Back in 2004, Vin Diesel's company "One Race Films" bought a script from David "Gladiator" Franzoni based on the Ross Lecke (presumably well researched) account of the life of Barka - also known as Hannibal.
Diesel himself was going to play the historical legend, etc...etc...
